Meet Nicole

What was your favorite book/ book series as a kid?

Without pause, I would have to say The Baby-Sitters Club. I saw so much of myself in several of the girls. Kristy for her loud mouth which always got her in trouble. Claudia’s struggles with focusing and being a good student. Mary Anne’s awkward shyness. I loved reading about the girl’s experiences and related to seeing them navigate all the same highs and lows of school I was dealing with.

What's your favorite season and why?

Fall is the most unique and enjoyable season, and I won’t be convinced otherwise. What other season allows you to enjoy haunted houses, outdoor grilling, AND fresh cranberry sauce? Also, fall is the last season you can successfully get away with layering an outfit for fun instead of necessity against intense wind chills.

Who is your favorite TV or movie parent?

Bandit Heeler. Until my son was born, I viewed all fictional parents as the type of parent I wanted, but Bandit (aka Bluey’s dad) is the type of parent I want to be. He is involved and present. He isn’t too tired to make up silly games with the kiddos. He knows how to set a limit…and then adjust that limit if needed. He’s not always realistic but his aspirational and I love him.

What parenting website/blog/podcast/IG do you follow and why?

I LOVE Big Little Feelings. I’m a huge proponent of loving and guiding children with intention, as well as understanding and finding ways to better navigate their big emotions. The tips and insights they post helped me stop viewing the toddler years as a time you have to grit through.

What does being a "PFect parent" mean to you?

PFect parents understand their role in navigating school refusal. They are committed to CONSISTENCY. They are willing to take the ego out of parenting and are willing to make changes to support their child in getting back on track. They are honest about their current barriers and open to recommendations..

What is your most valuable “superpower” in helping parents?

Working as a family therapist and providing in-home support as a case manager, I have seen families amid their most intense struggles. My superpower is my ability to listen, identify interventions, and help parents make connections between their dynamics and how the child is impacted. I know how to make space for parents to open up and feel heard, which allows us to get to the root of the issues and develop realistic plans.
