Meet Jena

What was your favorite book/ book series as a kid?

My all-time favorite book series as a kid was Beverly Cleary’s Ramona series. When I was in elementary school all the books were coming out, and I felt like I was following Ramona in my similar journey navigating elementary and middle school! She made rough days better with humor!

What's your favorite season and why?

My absolute favorite season is Fall. I love the beautiful colors, Michigan State Football, and scary movies! I love cooking chili and stews, and Thanksgiving dinner.

Who is your favorite TV or movie parent?

My favorite TV parent would have to be Clark Griswold. He always makes me laugh and always tries his best for his family even when it fails! I love the adventures they take together and how they stick together through the brutal (hilarious) times!

What parenting website/blog/podcast/IG do you follow and why?

My favorite Instagram page for parents is Psychedmommy. This page brings to light all the difficulties parents face after having children and how to regain their self-worth! It gives a lot of self-care tips as well as how to navigate real big feelings parents face.

What does being a "PFect parent" mean to you?

A PFect parent means understanding that it is going to be a journey with ups and downs, and is willing to follow through for long-term success! It also means taking time for yourself to reset and do things you enjoy to be your best for others.

What is your most valuable “superpower” in helping parents?

My most valuable superpower would be my experience in both the school system as well as a therapeutic setting. I understand from both perspectives the best ways to support students that are struggling with School Refusal. I am knowledgeable on how parents can advocate for their children and best support to make the school environment less stressful for students who experience anxiety.
